Well-being, health, and learning go together.

When your child is physically active it will promote your child's health and ability to learn. Your child's school continuously works on creating a positive social environment to care for the well-being of your child. Please contact your child's school if you have any concerns regarding your child's well-being.

    A healthy lunch at school

Your child needs fuel to play, learn and develop. A good breakfast and a packed lunch from home are important. Most schools in Aarhus have a canteen or a canteen sale. You can order milk and fruit for your child via the school.

    The school health care nurse

During preschool (børnehaveklasse / 0. klasse) your child will be checked by the school healthcare nurse. It is important that you as a parent are present at these check-ups. The school health care nurse collaborates with the teachers and other staff members at the school to secure the health of the children. You can always contact the school healthcare nurse to book an appointment. Read about the school healthcare nurse.

    Dental care

Dental care for children in Denmark (tandpleje) is free of charge. For school children there are special clinics for checkups and where your child will learn about dental care. You must be present for dental care checkups. Read about dental care for school children.

Are you worried about your child's well-being and development?

If you are worried about your child's well-being or development you are always welcome to seek guidance or contact your child's teachers, pedagogues, or the management of your child's school. If you need more counselling you can contact the healthcare nurse at your child's school, the municipality's paediatricians (information in Danish), or PPR (team of specialists for children with special needs in the City of Aarhus) who are occupied with helping children with physical, educational or psychological needs.
