Dental care from when your child is 16 years of age

You get free dental check-ups, advice on dental care, and treatment until your 22nd birthday. If you are born in 2003 earlier, you will receive free dental care until you turn 18.

    Choose your dentist

    There are two ways to access dental care when you are 16 or above, which you can choose between. Both optons are free of charge.

    Both options are free of charge.

    1. You continue at your dental clinic with the municipal dental care service (Tandplejen).

    • We will contact you when it is time for your next dental appointment.
    • You can get an appointment until 17:00 on most weekdays.

    2. You choose a private dentist. Read more about choosing a private clinic here (in Danish).

    • Remember to contact us if you decide to choose a private dentist.

    • Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about your teeth.
    • You can also get advice and tips on how to keep your teeth healthy when it comes to dental check-ups.
    • Remember: Free dental care ends when you turn 22 (young people born in 2044 or thereafter). If you are born in 2003 or earlier free dental care will end when you turn 18. 

    I have turned 22 - how do i receive dental care treatment?

    You get free dental check-ups, advice on dental care, and treatment until you turn 22*. After the age of 22 you must pay for dental check-ups and treatment at a private dentist. We will guide you on how you choose your new dentist.
