If you are under 18 and do not speak Danish
If you are under 18 and do not speak Danish, you are to attend a reception class (modtagerklasse). This is for you to learn the Danish language before attending a youth education in Danish.
The reception class helps you learn the Danish language and prepare academically for youth education. If you turn 18, you can attend the language schools in Aarhus.
Once you complete the reception class, your teachers and educational guidance counsellor (UU-vejleder) will help guide you towards the educational program best suited to you.
There are fewer children in a reception class than in an ordinary class, so the teacher has more time for each pupil.
As reception classes are part of the municipal public school system, attending one is cost-free.
When you move to Aarhus, your parents must apply for a reception class enrolment. Pedagogy, Leisure & Education will receive your application.
