Appointments with the health visitors are a free service offered by the City of Aarhus.

In your child’s first year, your health visitor will come and visit you at home.

If you need it, we can maintain this contact throughout your child's time with a childminder (dagpleje) / day nursery (vuggestue), and kindergarten (børnehave). During school years, it is the school’s health visitor who follows your child’s health.

If you need advice and guidance outside your health visitor's regular hours, you can call the Health Visitor Service on-call telephone line.

Opening hours of the on-call telephone line:

    Monday - Friday 9.00-12.00 and 17.00-19.00

    Saturday - Sunday 09.00 - 11.00 and 17.00 - 19.00

    Phone number: 70 20 80 08

Via the on-call telephone line, you can get advice on your child’s development and well-being.

    • If your child cries a lot.
    • If your child sleeps poorly.
    • If your child is restless.

You are always welcome to contact the on-call telephone line if you have problems with breastfeeding or if you are struggling with parenthood.

The Health Visitor Service is divided into areas in the municipality of Aarhus and each team has a telephone number.

If you want to record a meeting with the health visitor on video or audio, here are the things you need to know first.

    Video recordings

You should always notify your health visitor in advance if you want to film a conversation or a visit to your home. The health visitor has the right to choose not to perform their work task if filming occurs without an agreement. Therefore, the health visitor can limit the help to include only the necessary assistance in the home.

You can arrange the filming of your meeting with your health visitor. In this case, you may only use the recording for private use, unless you have agreed otherwise.

The same rules apply if you want to film a meeting outside your home.

    Audio recordings

You are welcome to make an audio recording of a meeting without informing the health visitor. However, remember to inform the employee if you want to play the audio recording for anyone other than yourself.

Do you find it difficult to remember what you agreed on at your meetings? If so, remember that you are always allowed to invite family or a friend to your health meetings.
