Rates for subsidies 2025
You can receive a subsidy to pay your childminder's salary. The subsidy amount depends on how many hours you use your private childcare arrangement (privat pasningsordning) and your child's age.
Questions about subsidies for private childcare arrangement
Your subsidy can cover up to 75% of your documented expenses. You can receive subsidies for the care of up to 3 children.
We can pay a maximum of DKK 6,817 per month for children aged 0 to 2 and DKK 4,148 per month for children aged 3 until 1 August, when your child starts school.
Your child is considered 3 years old from the 1st of the month following their 3rd birthday.
Your maximum subsidy is calculated based on a childcare arrangement agreement of more than 32 hours per week.
If you wish to have a childcare arrangement agreement for less than 32 hours per week, your subsidy will be reduced to DKK 4,544 per month for children aged 0 to 2 years and DKK 2,883 per month for children aged 3 years until 1 August of the year that your child starts school.
The subsidy amounts are adjusted annually on 1 January.
Sibling subsidies (søskendetilskud) are provided if you have more than one child in a private childcare arrangement or a combination of a private childcare arrangement and another child in a daycare or school-based leisure-time facility (SFO).
Here's how the sibling subsidy is calculated: You pay the full price for the most expensive place, and half the price for the subsequent places.
When calculating the sibling subsidy for the private childcare arrangement, it's important to note that only 85% is for the cheapest, age-appropriate place in the municipal daycare, converted to 12 months.
We do not provide sibling subsidies for children enrolled in clubs.
It's important to note that financial assistance (økonomisk friplads) is not available for a private childcare arrangement.
We pay your subsidy into your NemKonto on the last working day of the month. You will receive the subsidy in advance monthly.
The processing time can take up to 30 days from receiving your application and agreement. If the private childcare arrangement has been initiated, we will pay retroactively. However, you will not be able to receive a subsidy for a period during which a private childminder is not approved or does not meet the approval requirements according to our page Approval and Pedagogical Supervision.
If you have employed a private childminder, we must also have received documentation of:
- that you have signed the mandatory occupational injury insurance (arbejdsskadeforsikring)
- that you have made a CVR/SE number
We may stop your subsidy in exceptional cases if particular considerations for your child's welfare suggest that your child should start in a municipal daycare.
We also stop your subsidy:
- when the agreement ends
- from the date your child starts in another childcare
- from 1 August of the year, your child starts school
