In kindergarten, your child is involved in many activities and experiences every day along with the other children.
Your child's well-being and social competencies are strengthened through play and learning before he or she enters school.
The staff in the kindergarten consists of trained kindergarten pedagogues and assistants. Your experience with your child's habits and routines is an important element in your cooperation with the kindergarten. Tell the staff about your child so that you can ensure that your child thrives and develops at home as well as in the kindergarten.
Ask the kindergarten's staff how to help your child get the best start in the new kindergarten.
Different types of kindergartens
The daily routine may differ depending on which kindergarten your child attends and whether they have a special focus - for instance nature kindergartens.

What's it like to attend a kindergarten?
The kindergarten Børnehaven Bakkehuset explains what a typical day is like:
- The day starts with breakfast for the children who haven't had the opportunity to eat from home.
-
After breakfast, the day starts with activities such as games, drawing, or playing with friends. After this, a certain age group of children goes to the playground.
-
Before noon the kindergarten teachers start activities for the children according to age group.
-
At 11 all children come together while an adult prepares lunch. We read a book out loud or sing together and talk about the story or the song. We then have lunch.
-
After lunch, the children put on their clothes to go outside to the kindergarten's playground. Here, the children can use their energy, move around and create different social relations than what's possible indoors.
