Day nursery (vuggestue) 0-3 years of age
A day nursery is a daycare institution that looks after children aged 0-3 years during the day. Find our day nurseries on the map and read more about each institution on their individual websites (in Danish).
Day nurseries employ educated pedagogues and assistants.
Your child's development, self-worth, and well-being are strengthened through play and learning. Typical activities will include playing at the playground, reading, painting, singing, and other creative activities.
Your experience as a parent with your child's habits and routines is an important element in your cooperation with the nursery.
Tell the staff about your child so that together you can ensure that your child thrives and develops both at home and at the nursery.
Ask the nursery about what a typical day is like and about what your child will need to have a good start at the nursery.

What's it like to attend a day nursery?
The day nursery Vuggestuen Silkeborgvej gives you an example of a day at a day nursery:
At 9 when most children have been dropped off we get fruit and sing together. The morning routine is a way to have a soft landing for the children.
Before noon we paint, draw, go to the day nursery's playground, play games, and much more. We prioritize doing outside activities in all types of weather and our playground invites the children to use the swings, play with sand, water, and much more.
When possible we go for shorter trips e.g. to the Botanical Garden, the fire station, the library, the Museum of Natural History, or another place. We can either choose to walk, strollers, or the bus.
