Apply for free or subsidised childcare (using MitID)

Can I get free or subsidised childcare in 2026? These are the rules.

If your household's total income is below 677.499 kroner annually, you can apply for a free place. The amount of the subsidy depends on the household's income. The percentage of the subsidy can therefore vary between 1-100%.

My subsidy has been recalculated - what does that mean?

The City of Aarhus is automatically notified by the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen) if your income changes. If the change of income affects the subsidy you receive, your payment will automatically be regulated for each month.

Yearly regulation of your free or subsidised childcare place

We regulate your free or subsidised childcare place once a year. The regulation is based on your tax assessment notice from the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen).
