Is your child entitled to transport by school bus?

Let your child travel safely with the school bus.

    It is your responsibility that your child gets on the bus. Talk to your child about what needs to be remembered to travel safely with the bus. 

    • Teach your child the safest way to and from the bus stop.
    • Leave the house in good time. 
    • Speak to your child regularly about what needs to be remembered when travelling with the school bus.

    Get in touch with your child's school if something about the rides on the school bus concerns you. 

    While you wait for the bus:

    • Stand still on the sidewalk.
    • Be ready on the sidewlak or by the road so the busdriver can spot you.

    When on the bus:

    • You must always wear a seatbelt on the bus.
    • Stay seated when driving.
    • Speak to other in a nice and polite manner so everyone gets a good trip.
    • Do not eat or drink on the bus.
    • Remember your belongings when leavoing the bus.

    When getting off the bus:

    • Be attentive - look to your right and left before leaving the bus.
    • Be aware of bicycles.
    • Do not pass the road before the bus has left. you must have a clear view to see if cars are approaching. and so that they can see you.

    Your child can ride to and from school with a public bus or a school bus when:

    • The road to school is longer than 2½ kilometres for children in preschool (børnehaveklasse / 0. klasse) to 3rd grade
    • The road to school is longer than 6 kilometres for children in grades 4 to 6
    • The road to school is longer than 7 kilometres for children in grades 7 to 9
    • The road to school is considered dangerous
    • If the child has been granted special transport in relation to special education or special needs
    • If your child is referred to a reception class and the referral includes transportation

    If there's a public school to your child's school we often grant a bus card, if your child has the right to transport. In some cases, there are special school buses. 

    Please get in touch with your child's school if you believe your child is entitled to transport by bus. 

    Your child is not entitled to transport to and from the school if you have chosen another school than the district school or another school than the assigned special school offers.
