Combination offer (kombinationstilbud)
If you require childcare outside the regular opening hours of childcare, you can choose a combination offer (kombinationstilbud) for your child.
By opting for a flexible childcare arrangement, you can enjoy the benefits of both a regular place in a municipal or private daycare and the personalised care of a private caregiver.
The combination offer consists of a part-time place in an institution or daycare and care in a flexible childcare arrangement. A flexible childcare arrangement involves care by a private caregiver you hire yourself, who looks after a maximum of 2 children, or by purchasing a place with an independent childminder who cares for up to 5 children.
You must submit an application for the flexible childcare arrangement and subsidies no later than 4 weeks before your child's care starts and no earlier than 2 months before your care begins.

Questions about combination offer
The rules for using a flexible childcare arrangement for a combination offer are designed to provide you with the same level of control and flexibility as a private childcare arrangement. However, there are additional conditions that you must meet to use the combination offer.
- In Aarhus Municipality, we guarantee childcare from when your child is 26 weeks old, so you cannot use a combination offer before that time.
- The combination offer includes a part-time place in an institution or daycare and care in a flexible childcare arrangement.
- A flexible childcare arrangement involves care by a private caregiver you hire yourself, who looks after a maximum of 2 children, or by purchasing a place at an independent childminder who cares for up to 5 children.
- Your child must be cared for in a flexible childcare arrangement for at least 10 hours per week. If this requirement is not met, you may not be eligible for the subsidy. The hours must be calculated every week for at least 4 weeks.
- You can only receive a subsidy for the flexible childcare arrangement outside the regular opening hours of daycare facilities and during times when you and your spouse or potential partner cannot care for your child due to work.
- To receive a subsidy for a flexible childcare arrangement, you must submit a work schedule from your spouse's or potential partner's employer, clearly showing your working hours. The Placement Service (Pladsanvisningen) must receive the schedules at least 4 weeks before the start of care.
- Based on the work schedules you provide, the Placement Service will calculate the total number of hours you and your spouse or potential partner cannot care for your child due to work. From this, they will decide how many hours your child can be cared for in an institution and how many hours you can receive a subsidy for in the flexible childcare arrangement.
- Regardless of the allowed number of hours in the institution, the minimum price for institutional care will always correspond to the price for a part-time place in an institution, in addition to the costs of the flexible childcare arrangement.
- If you need to terminate the arrangement, we understand that circumstances can change. You will only be guaranteed a full-time place (51.50 hours per week) after 2 months. If there is space in the daycare facility, we may be able to help sooner.
You cannot apply for financial assistance (økonomisk friplads) for the flexible childcare arrangement, but you can apply for financial assistance for the place in the municipal daycare.
