When I accept a place, what do you do with my application?
When you accept an offer in a nursery or daycare
When you accept an offer in a nursery or daycare, we delete your entire application for places for the age group 0-3 years. If you have not obtained your first priority and want to keep it, you must therefore write it in the comments field when you accept the place. You CANNOT remain being on a waiting list for at guaranteed place when you have accepted the place. If you have made an application for a kindergarten, it is not deleted, and we keep your guarantee wish.
When you accept an offer in an integrated institution or a kindergarten
When you accept an offer in an integrated institution or a kindergarten, we delete your entire application - for both nursery, daycare and kindergarten. If you have not obtained your first priority and want to keep it, you must therefore write it in the comments field when you accept the place. You CANNOT remain being on a waiting list for at guaranteed place.
When you accept an offer in a guarantee district other than that in which you live
When you accept an offer in another guarantee of childcare district, we delete your entire application. If you want to remain on a waiting list for your wishes in your own guarantee of childcare district and a guaranteed place, you must write so in the comments field when you accept the place. You can only remain on a waiting list for a guaranteed place if you write so in the comments field.
If I decline an offered place, then what happens to my application?
If you decline an offered place which is not among your priorities
We then consider the guarantee to have been fulfilled and your child’s seniority date will automatically be updated to current month + two months on the guarantee waiting list from the date on which you reply to the offer.
If you decline one of your priorities on your wish waiting list
We then delete the wish and consider the guarantee to have been fulfilled and your child’s seniority date will automatically be updated to current month + two months on the guarantee waiting list from the date on which you reply to the offer.
If you decline a place in a kindergarten and your child is in daycare
If you decline an offer for kindergarten for the date of your requirement, whether or not it is one of your priorities, you no longer have care from the date offered.
If you decline an offered place which is the sole priority on your wish waiting list
Then we delete the wish, and we also consider the guarantee to have been met, and we therefore also delete the wish for a guaranteed place. It means that your seniority on the waiting list will also be deleted. You will then be able to sign your child up again and it may take up to three months before your child can be offered a place again.
Your child can continue in a day nursery to the last day of the month after your child has reached the age of three. It applies to daycare that your child can continue until the wanted date of requirement.
If I do not reply to an offered place, then what happens to my application?
If you do not reply to an offered place which is not among your priorities
We then consider the guarantee to have been fulfilled and your child’s seniority date will automatically be updated to current month + two months on the guarantee waiting list from the date on which your deadline for a reply expires.
If you do not reply to an offered place which is among your priorities on your wish waiting list
We then delete the wish and consider the guarantee to have been fulfilled and your child’s seniority date will automatically be updated to current month + two months on the guarantee waiting list from the date on which your deadline for a reply expires.
If you do not reply to an offered place which is the sole priority on your wish waiting list
Then we delete the wish, and we also consider the guarantee of childcare to have been met, and we therefore also delete the wish for a guaranteed place. It means that your seniority on the waiting list will also be deleted. You will then be able to sign your child up again and it may take up to three months before your child can be offered a place again.

Should my child start in the institution from the date from which I have accepted the place?
When you have accepted a place, you must use the place from the date from which you have accepted the place.
If you do not use the place, the public day-care facilities may choose to withdraw your child, see the Danish Day Care Act (dagtilbudsloven).
Then, it can take up to three months for your child to be offered a place again. You are not guaranteed a place in the same institution.
I want another number of hours than offered to me. What should I do?
Public daycare facilities in the City of Aarhus offer a full-time place (52 hours per week) or a part-time place (30 hours per week).
If you want another number of hours than you have been offered, you must write it in the comments field which turns up when you accept the place.

How do your charge me for care?
In the City of Aarhus, the collection department is responsible for the parents’ share of the expenses.
If you live in the City of Aarhus and have a place here, you must pay monthly in advance each month for 11 months. You are not requested to pay for July.
Your bill will be sent to your digital mailbox after which you can register it for payment clearing services.
If you live in another municipality and obtains a place in the City of Aarhus, you must generally pay for 12 months. Thus, you must also pay for July.
It is your municipality of residence that collects your payment.
My child is transferred from one institution to another one in the City of Aarhus. Should I take out the child myself?
When your child is transferred from one institution to another institution in the City of Aarhus, we automatically withdraw your child as at the offer date.
What should I do if I want to withdraw my child from daycare?
If you want to take out your child, you must use Digital Pladsanvisning (Digital Placement Service). You have two months’ withdrawal notice to the 15th or the last day of a month.

Can I get a free/subsidised place?
If your household’s total income before tax is below DKK 576,800 (2021 rates) and DKK 583,700 (2022 rates), you can apply for a free/subsidised place. If you already have a free/subsidised place, it is transferred to the new public day-care facilities.

Can I obtain a grant for siblings?
If you have more than one child in daycare, you automatically get a grant for siblings. You pay the full price for the most expensive place and half the price for the other places.
Siblings are children of the same household with the same officially registered address, but not children in care.
No grant for siblings is given to children and young persons in a club.
The grant for siblings is automatically deducted in the monthly payment.
My child has started in kindergarten. When is the payment reduced?
If your child is cared for in public day-care facilities in the City of Aarhus, we automatically reduce your payment on the first day of the month after your child has reached the age of three. That also applies if your child is moved to a kindergarten at an earlier age. The price for daycare is not changed.
I am moving from the City of Aarhus, but I want to keep my place. What should I do?
If you move from the City of Aarhus and want to keep your child’s place in the City of Aarhus, you must immediately contact Pladsanvisning and Elevadministration in the City of Aarhus. We will ask your new municipality of residence to send a proof of the grant.
The monthly collection will depend on the amount of grants from your new municipality of residence.

I am going to move to another municipality and want to withdraw my child. What should I do?
If you are going to move to another municipality, you must withdraw your child at two months’ notice to the 15th or the last day of the month.
The withdrawal notice may be reduced to one month if you have accepted a place in the other municipality. To have the withdrawal notice reduced, you must send documentation of the new place to us, no later than one month before the new registration date. The documentation must be sent by digital mail.

Is my child insured by the City of Aarhus?
When your child attends one of the institutions or daycare of the City of Aarhus, your child is not insured by the City of Aarhus.
If you find it necessary, you must therefore ensure to have a valid accident and liability insurance cover for your child.
