Mothers’ groups during COVID-19

As a consequence of COVID-19, we at Sundhedsplejen cannot arrange mothers’ groups in the traditional way. We are experimenting with virtual mothers’ groups until we can arrange mothers’ groups as we usually do.

The healthcare nurse arranges the group administratively but does not participate in the group itself. If as a new mother you are interested in joining a mothers’ group, talk to your healthcare nurse about it. Would you like to be in a mothers’ group with other international mothers? Talk to your healthcare nurse about your options.

How to join a mothers’ group

Usually, you will be asked if you want to join a mothers’ group during your healthcare nurse’s first visit.

Once you have expressed interest in joining a mothers’ group, you will receive a letter in your digital postbox containing the contact information of other mothers in the group.

Call your healthcare nurse if you have not yet been offered a mothers’ group.

Have you just moved to Aarhus from another municipality?

If you are moving to Aarhus Municipality and would like to be in a mothers’ group, contact Sundhedsplejen’s main number.

What happens in the mothers’ group?

The mothers’ group typically meets once a week, taking it in turns to host at each other’s homes, or going out. It can be a nice respite during the maternity period to have fun and share experiences with other mothers who have children of the same age.

The mothers’ group agrees on the time, place, and what will happen.
