How to enrol your child in a school-based leisure-time facility
If your child is able to start directly in grade 0 of an ordinary municipal primary and lower-secondary school without first going into a reception class, you can enrol your child in a school-based leisure-time facility when you enrol them in the school via Digital School Enrolment. We then enrol your child in the school-based leisure-time facility as of 1 August of the year in which the child starts at the school.
- If your child is already attending a daycare facility in Aarhus Municipality, we automatically unenroll the child with effect from 31 July of the year in which the child starts school.
- If you need to enrol your child in a school-based leisure-time facility after the digital school enrolment has closed (open November to December) or after the start of school in grade 0, please use Digital Placement.

Childcare provision at whole-day schools
There is no school-based leisure-time facility at Søndervangskolen, which is a whole-day school. Here the school times are 8.00-16.00.
However, children in grades 0 to 3 can be enrolled for childcare in the before-school and after-school periods 6.30-8.00 and 16.00-17.00.
School-based leisure-time facilities for children in special schools or special classes and children with disabilities
All children in special schools or special classes and children with disabilities have the opportunity to use a school-based leisure-time facility up to and including grade 7.
Enrolment in a school-based leisure-time facility (SFO) if your child attends a reception class
If your child has minimal or no knowledge of Danish, they should attend a reception class until they are ready to go into an ordinary municipal primary and lower-secondary school class.
As the parent of a child in a reception class, you can choose to enroll your child using Digital Placement either in the school-based leisure-time facility linked with the school where your child attends the reception class or in the child’s district school. The district school is located close to where you live.

Please note that if your child does not yet have a CPR number, you should contact Placement Service and Pupil Administration to enroll your child in a school-based leisure-time facility.
Enrolment in a school-based leisure-time facility if your child goes to a private school
If your child goes to a private school and you want to enroll them in a school-based leisure-time facility, you should contact your child’s school.
