How to enrol your child in a school-based leisure-time facility (SFO)
Sign your child up for SFO (using MitID)
If your child is able to start directly in grade 0 of an ordinary municipal primary and lower-secondary school without first going into a reception class (for children with no or little knowledge of Danish), you can enrol your child online in an SFO when you enrol them in the school via Digital School Enrolment (Digital Skoleindskrivning). Your child will then be enrolled in the SFO as of August 1st of the year in which the child starts school.
- If your child is already attending a daycare facility in Aarhus Municipality, we automatically unenrol the child from the daycare facility with effect from July 31 of the year in which the child starts school.
- If you need to enrol your child in an SFO after the Digital School Enrolment has closed (open from November to December) or after the start of school in grade 0, please use Digital Placement (Digital Pladsanvisning).

Use the guide below on how to enrol your child in a school-based leisure-time facility using Digital Placement.
When using Digital Placement you must know your guarantee of school district.
Childcare provision at whole-day schools
There is no school-based leisure-time facility at Søndervangskolen, which is a whole-day school. Here the school times are 8.00-16.00.
However, children in grades 0 to 3 can be enrolled for childcare in the before-school and after-school periods 6.30-8.00 and 16.00-17.00.
School-based leisure-time facilities for children in special schools or special classes and children with disabilities
All children in special schools or special classes and children with disabilities have the opportunity to use a school-based leisure-time facility up to and including grade 7.
Enrolment in a school-based leisure time facility (SFO) if your child attends a reception class (your child has little or no knowledge of Danish)
If you wish for your child to attend a public school, and he or she has minimal or no knowledge of Danish, your child must attend a reception class until they are ready to go into an ordinary municipal primary and lower-secondary school class.
As the parent of a child in a reception class, you can choose to enroll your child using Digital Placement either in the school-based leisure-time facility (SFO) linked with the school where your child attends the reception class or in the child’s district school. The district school is located close to where you live.

Please note that if your child does not yet have a CPR number, you should contact the department Placement Service and Pupil Administration (Pladsanvisning og Elevadministration), the City of Aarhus to enroll your child in an SFO.
Enrolment in a school-based leisure-time facility if your child goes to a private school
If your child goes to a private school and you want to enroll them in a school-based leisure-time facility, you should contact your child’s school.
