Withdraw your child from childcare, SFO, and club. Withdrawal must be done with two months' notice. You can withdraw your child for the 15th, or for the last day of the month.

Withdraw your child from childcare (using your MitID)

 If you are subscribed to Digital Post: Use Digital Pladsanvisning (Digital Placement Service) to withdraw your child from a childcare institution, SFO, or club.

If you are exempted from Digital Post: Get a form from the daycare institution, the SFO, the club, or from Citizen Service (Borgerservice).

Withdrawal must be announced with two months’ notice to the 15th, or to the last day of the month.

An example: If you announce your child's withdrawal on the 3rd of May, your child will be withdrawn from daycare on the 15th of July, at the earliest.

If you announce on the 31st of July, your child is withdrawn at the earliest on the 30th of September.

You must withdraw your child if you move away from Aarhus Municipality, as withdrawal does not happen automatically. Read more under "Withdrawal when moving away from Aarhus Municipality".

WHEN CHANGING SCHOOLS

  • Will you enroll your child in SFO in the new school? Then we can make an exception from the notice for withdrawal, and you can withdraw your child the day before school starts, and immediately start SFO in the new school.
  • Is your child changing to another school within Aarhus Municipality? Then register for the new SFO using Digital Pladsanvisning. Use the date for the school change as "behovsdato" (date needed).

DO YOU HAVE JOINT CUSTODY?

If you have joint custody, both parents must agree on enrolling and withdrawing your child. We always assume that you have an agreement unless you have informed us otherwise in advance. 

You must announce the withdrawal of your child if you move away from Aarhus Municipality, as withdrawal does not happen automatically.

If you move away from Aarhus Municipality during the period of notice for withdrawal, and there are more than 14 days between your moving date and the date of withdrawal, we will request your new municipality of residence to charge for that period of time.

If you are moving to another municipality, we can shorten the notice for the withdrawal period to one month. The notice period can be shortened, if you have accepted a new childcare place, and you send us documentation for this via Digital Post. You must send the documentation to us, one month before the new enrollment date at the latest.

An example: You have announced the withdrawal of your child's place with two months’ notice, as of the 30th of June, and you are moving to another municipality on the 1st of June.

If you are then offered a place in the other municipality from the 1st of June, you must send documentation for this to us via digital post, at the latest on the 30th of April. After that, we can change your child's withdrawal date to the 31st of May.

If you want to withdraw your child during leave, or after a leave expires, you must announce this in writing via Digital Post to Placement Service and Pupil Administration (Pladsanvisning og Elevadministration) with two months' notice to the 15th, or to the last day of the month.

If your child starts school in Aarhus Municipality, the withdrawal will happen automatically and take effect on the 31st of July in the year that your child starts school. The withdrawal will take effect regardless of whether your child is going to a public or a private school.

Does your child start in a school with "rullende skolestart" (flexible school start)? Then use Digital Pladsanvisning (Digital Placement Service) to announce withdrawal from childcare, and for registering for SFO.
Flexible school start is available in certain schools in Aarhus Municipality, and it means that the school takes in new pupils up to three times a year.

If your child is transferring from one daycare service to another within Aarhus Municipality, the withdrawal from the current daycare service happens automatically. The withdrawal will take effect on the date, from which the new place is offered.

An example: If you accept the new place on the 1st of December, we will withdraw your child’s place on the 30th of November.

Is your child in a private institution? Then what is written above does not apply. You must make sure to announce the withdrawal yourself.

If your child is transferred from municipal daycare to private childcare:

• The withdrawal can happen with one month's notice.
• The withdrawal from the municipal daycare happens automatically.

If your child is in private childcare and is transferring to a municipal daycare:

• The withdrawal can happen with one month's notice.
• Please be aware that withdrawal from private childcare does not happen automatically.

You must withdraw your child from daycare if you are leaving Denmark.

If you are leaving Denmark, it is important that you announce withdrawal from Aarhus Municipality, as this does not happen automatically.

The withdrawal must be announced online via Digital Pladsanvisning. Please note that there is a two month's notice for withdrawal to the 15th, or to the last day of the month.
