Get to know your options for childcare, how to sign up your child and what to expect as an international parent

As an international parent navigating the Danish daycare system can be a challenge. What are your options? How do you sign up your child? What does a day at daycare look like? What practicalities do you need to take in mind? Is it true that children sleep outside, even in winter?

This introduction to the daycare system focuses on childcare for children aged 0 to 6. We will look into different topics, such as the structure, the options, and the practicalities.

We will guide you through the different possibilities for daycare as well as what to expect as an international parent.

We will thereafter have a sofa talk with the Placement Service and Pupil Administration (Pladsanvisning og Elevadministration) that handles signups for daycare in Aarhus Municipality on the practicalities of signing your child up for daycare such as waiting lists and guarantee of childcare scheme.
