Childcare in Aarhus - 0-6 years of age
The City of Aarhus, International Community, and Aarhus University International Club welcome all internationals to a seminar about the daycare system in Denmark and in particular in Aarhus.
As an international parent navigating the Danish daycare system can be a challenge. What are your options? How do you sign up your child? What does a day at daycare look like? What practicalities do you need to take in mind? Is it true that children sleep outside, even in winter?
This introduction to the daycare system focuses on childcare for children aged 0 to 6. We will look into different topics, such as the structure, the options, and the practicalities.
Daniela Trifiletti from Aarhus University International Club and Tiny Maerschalk from International Community will guide you through the different possibilities for daycare as well as what to expect as an international parent. Daniela and Tiny are both international mothers and will draw on their own experiences of daycare in Denmark.
We will thereafter have a sofa talk with Pia Godsk Romlund from the Placement Service and Pupil Administration (Pladsanvisning og Elevadministration) that handles signups for daycare in Aarhus Municipality. Pia will guide you on the practicalities of signing your child up for daycare such as waiting lists and guarantee of childcare scheme as well as give a status on the new international nursery in Aarhus.
You are very welcome to inform yourself of the opportunities for daycare in Aarhus at https://international.aarhus.dk/live/childcare-and-school/childcare-0-6-years-of-age/ so you have a general understanding before the event.
At the event, you are welcome to ask any questions you may have.
The event is held both as a physical event at Dokk1, where you will meet the other participants, and as a live stream, if you prefer to join us from home. You register to join either the physical event or the live stream.
We look very much forward to seeing you!
